Ward Eight Cocktail

Ward Eight is a classic bourbon sour with a hint of grenadine. Garnish with an orange and cherry flag by skewering both fruits on a cocktail pick. It's assumed that the Ward Eight was created at Locke-Ober in Boston sometime in the year 1898. One of my favorite bourbons for this cocktail is Woodford Reserve as it adds a subtle, smoky sweetness that pairs nicely with the sweet grenadine.

Ingredients:
2 oz bourbon
dash of grenadine
sour mix
orange slice for garnish
maraschino cherry for garnish

Method:
Pour the bourbon and grenadine into a collins glass filled with ice.
Fill with sour mix.
Shake by placing a tin over the glass, giving a couple of good shakes.
Garnish with a cherry and orange slice flag.
